In lieu of flowers to remember The Hon. Mike Ahern AO please make a donation to Queensland Community Foundation’s Liver Foundation sub-fund to support their important work for generations to come.
Mr Ahern was instrumental in the founding of QCF, a perpetual charitable trust, which was launched in 1997 with 12 sub-funds and $300,000.
Today, his vision has produced 255 sub-funds with $121 million in funds carefully managed under founding sponsor QIC. More than $35 million has been distributed to more than 600 charitable organisations since its inception with an expected $5 million being distributed in 2024.
Queensland Community Foundation Chair The Honourable Margaret McMurdo AC said “The passing of Queensland Community Foundation’s wonderful Patron, Mike Ahern AO, is a great loss to us and to Queensland. Our thoughts are with Mrs Ahern and their family.”

The Ahern Family has asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation to The Liver Foundation would be gratefully received in acknowledgment of Mike Ahern AO’s passing.
