Donations to the General Fund are pooled and invested with the income applied to the annual grants program.

Queensland Gives, in partnership with QUT’s Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Non-Profit Studies, commissioned research to determine where Queensland Gives could effectively make grants to meet areas of unmet need in the philanthropic sector – Philanthropy’s Future in the Smart State Report. The report identified organisational capacity building of charitable organisations in need of funding support.

The General Fund, a sub-fund established for general charitable purposes, has taken on this purpose and Queensland Gives views itself as an innovator in this style of granting and is proud to support enhancement of core skills and resources of charitable organisations.

The annual area of focus is determined by the Board of Governors and approved by the Trustee.

We encourage you to donate or leave a bequest to the General Fund. Your generosity will support a number of charities throughout Queensland for generations to come.
